Pinnacles National Park

A hiking and climbing park; bring the bike only for a short road spin.

1/5
Leave the bike at home

The east and west entrance roads don't connect, bikes are road-only, and the west side road isn't advised for cycling.

Riding here

Pinnacles is about its rock spires, caves and condors, seen on foot. Bikes are limited to paved roads, the east and west sides don't connect, and the park advises against road biking through the West Entrance. The one off-pavement option is the short unpaved road to Bacon Ranch near the east-side campground.

Where you can ride

Paved roads, plus the unpaved road to Bacon Ranch near the east-side campground.

Where you can't

No bikes on trails. You can't ride through the park between the east and west entrances.

When to go

Spring and fall; summer is hot.

Safety

No bike lanes, and most roads have no shoulder; parts are only one lane wide. Riders under 18 need an adult and a helmet.

E-bikes

The park's own bicycling page doesn't spell out e-bike rules. Under the NPS e-bike rule (36 CFR 4.30), an e-bike with working pedals and a motor under 750 watts is generally allowed where regular bikes are, and riding on the motor alone is barred anywhere cars can't go. Parks can restrict them, so confirm with the park before you bring one.

Fees

Arriving by bike, you pay the park's individual (per-person) entrance fee, normally valid for 7 days, or ride in on an annual or America the Beautiful pass. Amounts change, so check the park's Fees & Passes page.

Sources

Checked November 2026 against these sources. Rules, closures and fees change; confirm with the park before you ride.
